The Tumor Microenvironment (TME) is a complex ecosystem of cancerous, noncancerous, and immune cells. The actions and interactions of these elements are responsible for cancer heterogeneity, metastasis and acquired drug resistance. Of particular interest are the beneficial and harmful roles played by TME-infiltrating immune cells. As such, profiling the composition and function of immune cells in the TME is a priority for investigators.
