Advancements in iPSC Cell Line Development & Cloning from the UCLA Stem Cell Workshop

A recent workshop was held at UCLA Human Stem Cell and Genome Engineering Center, focusing on the latest advancements in iPSC cell line development and cloning. In collaboration with Bio-Techne, the event featured a demonstration of the Pala™ Single Cell Sorter and Dispenser technology, showcasing its enhanced efficiency and success in single-cell cloning of iPSCs.

Watch the insightful presentations covering the following:

  • Best practices and techniques for growing, maintaining, and passaging iPSC cell lines for gene editing and stable cell line generation
  • Experimental optimization conditions and approaches for achieving successful gene editing outcomes in iPSCs
  • Methods for single cell cloning and verification of cell clonality for stable cell line generation
  • Tools and technologies to support end-to-end workflows for iPSC culture, differentiation, and stable cell line development

Dr. Deniz Ata, Ph.D., Manager, UCLA Stem Cell & Genome Engineering Center

Featured Talk: Focuses on a semi-automated workflow for gene editing in human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), integrating manual CRISPR delivery with automated liquid handlers for media exchange and clonal plating.

Dr. Ryan McComb, Ph.D., Senior Product Manager, Bio-Techne

Featured Talk: To realize the promise of scaling iPSCs for disease modeling and therapeutic development, it is necessary to develop standardized tools, protocols, defined reagents, and automated technologies. This talk features a standardized workflow for developing clonal cell lines using Bio-Techne’s Pala, animal origin free reagents, and a small molecule cocktail for improving single cell survival and health.
